Saturday Night Duties

Every team has an obligation to the club in fulfilling their rostered duties on Saturday evenings. Usually, a team has up to three duties throughout the season. These evenings aid in the much-needed fundraising required for training and other club expenses. It also serves as an integral part of the great atmosphere and club spirit at Grange Royals.

Kitchen Service

A minimum of six workers are required to efficiently run the kitchen in the evening. Every member of the team is to bring a salad or arrange for one to be delivered to the clubrooms. Preparation of the kitchen and dining room begins at 5:30pm.  All helpers should arrive at this time to commence serving from 6:00 pm.
Clean up generally concludes around 9:00-9:15pm. Your team duty is not complete until the appointed kitchen leader of the evening is satisfied and dismisses the need for any further assistance.
Please note: All workers are required to pay for their meals.

Dining Service

Each team will be scheduled for dining service formerly known as bar duty. During the course of the evening the team is required to collect the empties from around the dining room, and return them to the bar and kitchen area for washing. At the end of the evening, the team will wipe down all chairs and table/bench tops with the commercial grade sanitiser. Chairs are then stacked on the mobile stands generally concluding by 9:15pm-9:30pm. The team can bond over dinner between restoring the dining room.

Bunnings BBQ

The club hosts a number of Bunnings BBQs throughout the entire year at Adelaide Airport Bunnings on James Schofield Drive. Each BBQ will be assigned to a team that is not scheduled to play hockey on that day. Between six and nine people are required throughout the day to work the BBQ in 2-to-4-hour shifts depending on the number of volunteers. Each volunteer will need to complete the I’m A.L.E.R.T online food handlers training. Links to the free training course are on the Volunteering page and it is a one-time requirement to complete. All BBQ workers must be 16 years or older. Further information will be provided to you by our Fundraising coordinator if your team is required to work a Bunnings BBQ. Any queries are to be directed to fundraising@grangeroyals.org.au.
